📝 Match Preview: Gillingham

All you need to know ahead of Saturday's cup clash

26 November 2020

Exeter City head to Kent this weekend looking to make it into the third round of the Emirates FA Cup when they take on Gillingham. Here's all you need to know...

The Grecians head into the game high in confidence after Tuesday night's 6-1 win against Colchester United at St James Park, while Gillingham were 2-1 victors against AFC Wimbledon at the Priestfield.

Speaking ahead of the clash, City boss Matt Taylor says he is looking forward to the challenge of the League One side.

"They're a good side with an experienced manager at this level. This is a cup tie we're relishing and one we're looking forward to, especially with the confidence boost following on from Tuesday's performance.

GILLINGHAM'S LAST MATCH

Gillingham 2 AFC Wimbledon 1 | 24/11/20 | Sky Bet League One

Kyle Dempsey's goal alongside another from Dominic Samuel secured victory against the Dons.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTER

Exeter City 0 Gillingham 0 | 12/03/12 | Coca Cola League One

Play-off hopefuls City could not find their shooting boots in the stalemate at SJP. Jamie Cureton had three good chances to win the game for the hosts, but the first half dominance didn’t bear any fruit. Gillingham created little all game and left Devon the much happier of the two sides.
