The Academy are recruiting for the following roles:

Under-9 Assistant Coach

  • Location: Exeter
  • Type of Contract: Part Time – Fixed Term (August 2018 – June 2019)

  • Job Title: Under 9 Assistant Coach
  • Department: Academy Coaching
  • Reporting to: Academy Lead FDP Coach

Summary:
Exeter City FC are looking to recruit an Under 9 Assistant Coach to work with the players in 3 training sessions per week as well as on match days each Sunday.

The successful applicant will be required to deliver relevant, innovative and enjoyable coaching practices for U9 players. They will also need to be experienced in planning, reviewing and providing feedback to players and parents to assist with the all-round development of young football players.

Key Tasks:

  • Develop young players who aspire to play high quality possession-based football for ECFC.
  • Prepare for & coach in 3 training sessions per week with the Under 9 age group.
  • Prepare for & coach the Under 9 age group matches as part of the games programme 
  • Liaise with the Head of Academy Recruitment regarding trialists in the Under 9 age group.
  • Plan, evaluate and record all training sessions ensuring that all important factors are covered appropriately (5 pillars, cycle of play, individual, unit, team).
  • Record training and match details for team and individuals on PMA.
  • Undertake 6x weekly recorded reviews with individual players on achievement and progress.

Person Specification:

  • Hold the UEFA ‘B’ coaching licence.
  • Up to date Level 3 CPD hours.
  • Hold the FA Youth Award.
  • Have a current (in date) BFAS/ EFAiF qualification.
  • Have a current (in date) FA DBS check. 
  • Have recent and relevant experience working with elite young football players.
  • Have effective & efficient communication skills at all levels.
  • Be personable and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic.
  • Be willing to engage in and undertake Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • Adopt a positive and enthusiastic outlook towards the use of sports psychology and match analysis that will encourage players to do the same.

They will also need to be experienced in planning, reviewing and providing feedback to players and parents to assist with the all-round development of young football players.

Lead Youth Development Phase Coach

Summary
Exeter City FC are looking to recruit a Lead Youth Development Phase Coach to manage and oversee all activities within the YDP to a high professional standard. The Academy see this as a specialist role with the successful applicant showing a passion and capabilities to maximise potential in adolescent players.

The successful applicant will be required to deliver relevant, innovative and enjoyable coaching practices, manage individual player programmes and deliver a programme that produces talented players for the Professional Development Phase.

Key Tasks:

  • Oversee all coaching and multi-disciplinary activities across the YDP.
  • Lead and coach an individual age group within the YDP.
  • Develop & progress adaptable players capable of performing to a high standard.
  • Plan, organise & coach YDP players on day-release.
  • Assist coaching sessions with Under 18 group.
  • Manage all aspects of practice and game planning across the Phase.
  • Monitor the planning & recording of all training sessions and games across the Phase.
  • Plan for the organisation & structure of the delivery of player reviews on a 6-weekly basis.
  • Plan training camps for YDP players in school holidays.

Head of Education & Welfare

Summary:
Exeter City FC are looking to recruit a Head of Education & Welfare to be responsible & accountable for the smooth, efficient & professional operation of all Education & Welfare matters within the Academy.

The successful applicant will be required to provide education support for all Academy players, build relationships with external education providers and provide a central point of contact for all safeguarding and welfare concerns within the Academy.

Key Tasks:

  • Ensure all educational requirements of the Scholarship programme are met, liaising with Exeter College to ensure Scholars meet their educational course requirements.
  • Plan, deliver and assess NVQ for all U18 scholars.
  • Plan & provide relevant and innovative support/compensatory education lessons for players on day release.
  • Closely monitor progression of all Academy players with particular focus on players that are part of the hybrid training model at St Luke’s Science & Sports College.
  • Oversee the school release programme working, closely with the Lead FDP & YDP Coaches, ensuring parents, players & schools are informed of all the relevant information.
  • Ensure the Academy has up to date school reports for all players uploaded on the PMA.
  • Plan & organise life skill sessions for the U18 Scholars in conjunction with the LFE.
  • Manage & enhance relations with linked Colleges in a well organised, professional manner.
  • Target & sit-in on Academy player reviews who are underachieving in their education.
  • Coordinate & provide regular suitability reviews on living accommodation arrangements for Scholars and trialists.
  • Ensure DBS checks are carried out on all Academy staff and updated every 3 years.
  • Liaise with the Club Safeguarding & Welfare Officer on Academy safeguarding issues and ensure appropriate Academy staff are aware of issues and/or matters arising.
  • Ensure Academy safeguarding policies & procedures are up to date.
