Exeter Starlites to perform at the Exeter City Charity Family Fun Day on June 23rd.

Exeter Starlites Cheerleading was established in 2008 and has rapidly grown in strength into a winning combination. Exeter Starlites Squads represented the United Kingdom in the European Championships held in Croatia last July.

Cheerleading is a unique athletic discipline which puts together cheers, chants, stunts, jumps, arm motions, tumbling and dance. All these elements are combined to produce Cheerleading, Stunt and Pom Dance Routines. The aim of Cheerleading is to raise self-esteem, build confidence and encourage team work.

Cheerleading is known as the sport of smiles and educates young members to keep fit, have fun and develop lifelong friendships.

The Club now has over 70 members, aged from 4 upward. The weekly training sessions in Exeter and Honiton consist of:

• Cheer Tots (4-6 years)
• Open Cheer Group (7+ years)
• Starlites Elite

Cheerleading is growing in popularity among young people as it is a unique athletic discipline which combines gymnastics, tumbling, acrobatics, music and dance.

As well as improving their gymnastic and dance skills at the regular training sessions, there are opportunities throughout the year for all cheerleaders to take part in displays and carnivals at community events, fairs and school fetes. Many of these are for local charities, so the participants have the opportunity to give something back to their community and take part in events which are raising money for local good causes. The cheerleaders can show off their skills and encourage other young people to consider joining the cheer group. It gives them a sense of achievement and pride when positive feedback is received from members of the public as well as their coaches.

The Starlites will be performing at 11am & 1pm and would welcome your support.

You will also see, from a safe distance, how the building work on the new Stagecoach Stand is progressing.

As an added bonus, the Tours will include and introduction to the new club Museum. The Museum is a collaboration between ECFC, the Supporters Trust and the University of Exeter and has been supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Will Barrett, co-director of the Grecian Archive, will describe the contents, have some items available to handle and have your photo taken with.

The guided tours are great for anyone who’d like to get a behind the scenes view, whilst finding out about the history of their club.

Spaces are limited but open to all. To book your place, please email: clive.harrison@ecfc.co.uk with your preferred time (or if flexible, times) and the number of places required.

The Tours are provided free of charge but donations towards our event charities, CITY Community Trust and Reverse Rett would be very welcome.
