We are currently recruiting a Head of Coaching & Player Development to join our Academy on a full-time, permanent basis at our Cliff Hill Training Ground facility.
Working as part of the management team the successful candidate will maintain and evolve a sustainable and progressive approach to player development within the Academy developing coaches so that they improve and perform to the best of their potential maximising the potential of the players they work with.
The Head of Coaching & Player Development will be responsible for the production and communication of the technical programme across all three age phases ensuring collaboration with the Cell Lead Coaches in overseeing coaching and multi-disciplinary activities and assisting in coaching sessions with all age cells.
Line management duties will form part of this role and the successful candidate will ensure coaches have a clear understanding and acceptance of their development needs. Working collaboratively with the Academy Operations & Performance Manager regarding culture, leadership & strategy you will lead and develop relevant internal CPD strategy and content across the age cells developing and progressing adaptable coaches capable of performing to a high standard delivering appropriate coaching practice across the age cells.
Other key relationships will include working with the first team management staff to align philosophy and other key requirements, multi-disciplinary staff across all phases, parents, carers, players, other Clubs, EFL, FA, City Community Trust (CCT) and other external parties.
The successful candidate will need to build professional working relationships and have an empathic outlook and willingness to undertake a mentoring role. Effective communication skills are critical and other personal qualities should include a logical and innovative thinker with a persistent, patient, adaptable approach.
Candidates will need to be committed, dynamic individuals with a productive and positive work ethic. Leading, managing, guiding and supporting others are key elements of this role and therefore an ability to take ownership and work on your own initiative are key with the ability to take instruction and follow appropriate guidance when needed.
Candidates must have experience of working in an elite (professional Club) environment and must hold a UEFA A (L4) coaching licence, please refer to section 2 of the job description (Qualifications, CPD & Person Specification) for further information.
