Exeter City to play pre-season friendly in Arbroath

3 June 2015

Second date added to Scotland trip

The Grecians’ second pre-season friendly fixture in Scotland has today been confirmed as a visit to Arbroath on Thursday 9th July, kicking off at 7.45pm at Gayfield Park.

Exeter City’s other friendly fixture in Scotland, as previously announced, will be against East Fife at Bayview on Tuesday 7th July.

Like East Fife, the Red Lichties also currently ply their trade in Scottish League 2.  A third-place finish in 2014/15 earned the Angus club a play-off position, but they were defeated in extra-time after two semi-final legs against Queens Park.

Arbroath were also famed for holding the world record for the largest winning margin in professional football – a 36-0 win against Bon Accord in a Scottish Cup game in 1885 – but that was eventually broken in 2002 after 117 years.

The Exeter City team are being flown to Edinburgh by club sponsors Flybe on Tuesday 7th July, and will return back to Devon on Friday 10th July.

Ticketing information for this game will be announced in due course.

Exeter also have pre-season friendlies arranged away at Weston-super-Mare, Torquay United and AFC St Austell, as well as one home game announced so far against Fluminense U19 on Monday 20th July.
