Jamie delighted with present after dressing up as Tis for World Book Day

Six-year-old Jamie Spinks had a day to remember on Saturday as he received a signed book from Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale.

Jamie, who is a season ticket holder in the Big Bank, got some attention on Twitter earlier this month when his mum posted a picture of him heading to school on World Book Day dressed as Tis, with a flat cap, cravat and City scarf.

The picture was spotted by the Grecians manager who got Jamie a book from the club shop to present to him before kick-off.

Speaking to the Express & Echo, Jamie’s mum Kate Hodges said: “Jamie was a bit nervous at first but once he started speaking to Paul, the picture shows it all - his face lit up and everything," she said.

"We’ve got a book called Never Say Die and we were just reading and flicking through all the pictures when I mentioned to him he should go as Tis for World Book Day.

"So he went and I put it on Twitter and tagged Exeter City in it and it all went a little bit crazy.

"Simon Larkins from Exeter City messaged me and said he'd shown Paul and that Paul wanted to present him with a signed book at the Accrington match.

"We went in the dressing room as well and saw Steve Perryman and kit lady Lou Pring - we sit up by them in the Old Grandstand anyway, so they know Jamie."

She added: "Jamie was really happy and really excited - it's really nice of the club to do it. It was such an honour for the club to do such a great thing for him.

"It just shows that it's definitely a family place and they honour and respect everyone that goes, it's a great club to be a part of."
