City Ladies held by Chichester

EXETER CITY LADIES were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Chichester City.

The Chichester visitors came out all guns blazing and should have gone ahead inside the first ten minutes against the Grecians. City’s first chance came as Helen Kukor played the ball inside to Vic Barter and after a bit of trickery from the midfielder she crossed then ball to Paige Longworth who volleyed it over the bar.

For the rest of the period it was all Chichester, and they had three clear-cut chances that they really should have scored. After half-time it was the home team who came out firing on all cylinders. The midfielders worked the ball really well and created several chances for Kukor, who couldn’t find the back of the net. Full-back Carla Staddon crossed the ball in from a wide area for on-rushing midfielder Kirsty Caunter who missed connecting with the ball by centimetres.

Chichester had several more chances at the other end ,but some great defending by Staddon and excellent goalkeeping by Abbi Bond kept City in the game. The game looked to be petering out, but Chichester had a player sent off in the 89th minute for stamping on City midfielder Dani Barr.
