Grecians boss reacts to Oxford defeat

EXETER CITY manager Paul Tisdale was left to reflect on a disappointing night as he saw his side well-beaten by Oxford United at St James Park.

Two goals either side of half-time had done the damage for the home side, before Alex Nicholls got a consolation thirteen minutes from time.

"It was a pretty poor night," Paul conceded. "There are no real excuses for such a dismal performance; it was so poor in so many areas it’s hard to know where to start. I don't want to pick on things in isolation, but it was dreadfully poor. Conceding the early goal really didn’t help, but the whole thing was below par. The knock-on effect is on all areas.

"There’s a fault in what we did today. I don’t know how it got, in the space of four games, to where it did today. From three straight wins to how we played today, I don’t have all the answers straight away. I have to look at it and we have to make sure we get ourselves connected and together and that’s in every aspect - it’s not just about one moment, we didn’t look like a footballing side throughout the game tonight. We didn’t pass the ball well enough, and it was a generally dismal display. I’ve not had many as bad as that, but we just have to start again tomorrow and pick ourselves up.

"I’m sure it was a really disappointing night for the supporters; we acknowledge that and it’s nothing other than our own making today. I thought they supported us really well through most of that game so well done to them.’’
