Arron Davies doubled the advantage after the interval with an outrageous strike from the left touchline, and a minute later Sercombe coolly slotted home his second and Exeter's third.
Scunthorpe huffed and puffed to salvage a goal and muster some kind of fightback, but when Matt Grimes' shot was spilled by Sam Slocombe, fellow sub Sam Parkin hurdled the goalkeeper with the ball and tapped in a fourth.
