Local company erect windbreak for disabled fans
We’re delighted to announce that Pluss is the first organisation to help out disabled supporters of at St James Park by providing a wind break for the front of the accessible viewing platform.
Exeter City Disabled Supporters’ Association were the first to erect a windbreak at the Park, and now Pluss have offered their facility to help fans in the disability bays.
Pluss is a Social Enterprise that supports thousands of people with disabilities and other disadvantages into employment each year, through a range of specialist, local employment services and through direct employment within their own Social Enterprises.
Exeter City’s Youth Commercial Manager, David Evans, said: “Exeter City Disabled Supporters Association (ECDSA) is always looking at ways to improve the match day experience at Exeter City for supporters with disabilities. Introducing windbreak/advertising boards to the front of disabled bays has been one of those improvements.
“The Flybe stand is north-facing and the front of the bays are open to the elements. The boards help greatly with keeping the wind and rain out. Exeter City and the ECDSA welcome Pluss becoming the first business to provide a board at a Disabled Bay.”
Paul Love, Pluss Chief Operating and Financial Officer, said: “Pluss is a social enterprise based in Exeter that helps local people with disabilities and health conditions to achieve a career. One of Pluss’s main five values is “Working in Partnership”, meaning that we actively seek out and work with others with integrity to develop innovative and creative solutions to needs.
“The opportunity to work with Exeter City Disabled Supporters Association to provide some protection from the elements seemed like an obviously natural partnership for us. The ECDSA and Exeter City share some really important values with us and we’re very proud to be associated with them and supporting our community in this new way.”
There are a further three bays around the ground which could benefit from a windbreak/advertising board so there is now an opportunity for other businesses to come forward.
