31 August 2015

A look ahead to the JPT tie at St James Park

EXETER CITY vs PORTSMOUTH
JOHNSTONE'S PAINT TROPHY FIRST ROUND
ST JAMES PARK
TUESDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER 2015
KICK-OFF: 7:45PM

EXETER CITY kick-off their Johnstone's Paint Trophy campaign on Tuesday evening as they host Portsmouth at St James Park.

One of the favourites for the League 2 title this season, Pompey are expected to bring a large following to Devon, as has been the case in each of the last two seasons since they dropped down from League 1.

The Fratton Park club are also looking for success in this competition this season, but are hoping to hand debuts to a few youngsters at St James Park, as their assistant manager Leam Richardson told their official website: "It’s a game that we want to win – we’re certainly not disrespecting the competition. We won’t be underestimating Exeter, but there are certain players in the squad that we feel need games. We’re still learning about a few people – both individually and as part of a collective. It’s a chance to take a close look at them in a competitive environment."

Portsmouth are currently fourth in the Sky Bet League 2 table having amassed eleven points from the opening five games.

Full ticket details for the JPT tie can be found here.

"I want to play in every game and I'm just going to get ready to go again on Tuesday night and hopefully get a start. I don't want what happened last season to happen again. I can't go through another year of that. So, it is important to take my chance." - Jordan Tillson, speaking to the Express & Echo
