Match Preview: Swindon Town vs Exeter City (Capital One Cup Round 1)

10 August 2015

A look ahead to Tuesday evening's League Cup clash

SWINDON TOWN vs EXETER CITY
CAPITAL ONE CUP ROUND 1
COUNTY GROUND
TUESDAY 11TH AUGUST 2015
KICK-OFF: 7:45PM

AFTER a brilliant opening to the Sky Bet League 2 season with a 3-2 win over Yeovil Town on Saturday, Exeter City get their Capital One Cup campaign under way with a visit to Swindon Town on Tuesday evening.

Manager Paul Tisdale is set to make a few changes to the line-up that started against the Glovers, with the likes of new midfielder Manny Oyeleke pushing for a first Grecians start.

The Robins also got 2015/16 off to a flyer on Saturday as they blew away Bradford City 4-1 at the County Ground, with Nathan Byrne scoring a second-half hat-trick and on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigoroux making a penalty save from the Bantams' Billy Clarke - the score at that point was 1-0 to the visitors, so Vigoroux's save looked very much like the turning point.

The cup clash could also see a Swindon debut for defender Bradley Barry, who signed a one-year contract with the club on Monday following a successful trial.

Exeter City fans can pay on the gate at the County Ground.

Full ticket details for Grecians supporters can be found here.

EXETER CITY 1-2 SWINDON TOWN - ST JAMES PARK - OCTOBER 4 2011

City last met the Robins in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie in 2011. Swindon were the victors, with Jake Jervis scoring twice before Daniel Nardiello's consolation.

Head to Head:

Exeter City wins: 24
Swindon Town wins: 39
Draws: 25

Referee: Charles Breakspear
Assistants: Mark Howes, John Law
Fourth: Nick Hobbis

"When we played Sheffield United and Bournemouth in pre-season you could see what we were capable of. I know pre-season is different, but those teams were still fielding very, very good sides, and they were still playing very good football. That gives us confidence, going into the Swindon game, that we can cause them problems." - David Wheeler, speaking to the Express & Echo
