Help raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK on a charity walk!
York City supporter Daniel Pentland is using the chance to come and visit Exeter in the early part of the season as an opportunity to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK, partner charity of the Football League.Daniel, along with close friend Dave Harkness, will be walking from Exmouth Town FC to St James Park on the morning of the Exeter v York game, which falls on Saturday 22nd August. And he is inviting Exeter City supporters to join him in this fundraising initiative!
They are due to set off around 8.30am from Exmouth Town – they anticipate the walk will take around four hours, leaving ample time for some pre-match refreshments and a chance to extend new friendships.
Dan, a keen Minstermen fan who doesn’t miss a York game at home or on the road, recently ticked off a visit to every ground in the Football League – although Barnet’s promotion back to the fourth tier in their new stadium has set him back! But now he is eagerly anticipating this new challenge, and hopeful of raising plenty of funds for a great cause.
He said: “Following the completion of my dream of visiting the 92, I wanted to give something back to the game.
“We are looking to walk from Exmouth Town FC to St James Park on the morning of the match to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK, raise awareness of the illness, but also promote the importance of relationships and friendships in football.
“We would very much like this to be a fans’ walk and both visiting York City fans and Exeter City fans are warmly welcomed to join us on our walk, hopefully make new friendships, and benefit from some good exercise (hopefully in the Devon sunshine).”
