15-year-old beats Cliff Bastin's record of 16 years and one month

Ethan Ampadu has become the youngest player to make his debut in Exeter City’s history after starting for the Grecians against Brentford in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Born on 14 September 2000, Ethan is 15 years, 10 months, 26 days old, which surpasses Cliff Bastin’s club record after he made his debut for Exeter (away, 14/04/1928) against Coventry City aged 16 years one month.

Bastin’s home debut came on April 21, 1928, where he scored twice in a 5-1 win against Newport County, aged 16 years, one month, seven days.

Cliff Bastin: 16 years, one month
Peter Rutley: 16 years, four months
Ross Bellotti: 16 years, six months and 11 days.
