Dean Moxey: 'We’re just looking forward to carrying on our good form'

City defender looks ahead to Tuesday night's clash with third-place Luton Town

On Tuesday night, Exeter City will enjoy another game under the lights, hosting third-placed Luton Town in a mouth-watering top-of-the-table encounter.

Sitting pretty in second, the Grecians have recovered well from their slight wobble, building on a 4-1 home win against Morecambe with two strong away performances, beating Carlisle United and battling to a 0-0 draw at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday. A key figure in both clean sheets was Dean Moxey, but he highlighted the team-nature of both performances.

“It’s always pleasing to not let goals in at the back,” he said. “But the lads around me have been fantastic as well. It’s a big team effort, as every game is, and we’re looking for three points tomorrow night.”

Although clearly happy with their recent outings, Dean was keen to stress that the Grecians will be taking nothing for granted against the Hatters, a side who have won five of their last six games.

“It will be another tough game, the same as Saturday,” he said. “They have a lot of good players and have bought well. It’s a big game, with them being up there, but it’s early in the season, so we’re just looking forward to carrying on our good form.”

With a lot of development going on at St James Park, the team trained at the ground on Monday. However, in spite of all of the changes, the veteran defender insisted that they would not have a bearing on City’s performance.

“It’s a little bit strange, with all of the new hoardings around the pitch,” he said. “But it’s something we’ve just got to get on with. I don’t think it’ll be a factor. That was the reason for training here just to get used to it.

"We’re hoping for a great atmosphere tomorrow night. It’s second versus third and the fans have been fantastic all season, both home and away. Hopefully, we’ll get a big crowd in and get a result for them!”

Tickets for the IP Office Stand have sold out for the Luton Town match, but there are still standing places available on the Thatchers' Big Bank. To purchase your ticket ahead of tomorrow night's match click on the following link.
