Every season EA Sports release a new version of their best selling video game, FIFA.
In this game, you can play as a host of different football teams, taking control of whichever player you choose. Each player has their own individual set of statistics, ranking them from 1- 99 (99 being the best), covering attributes such as their shooting, composure and tackling, with all their stats being combined to give an overall rating.
This season’s edition, FIFA 19, has brought with it a host of interesting stats for Exeter City’s players.
According to EA Sports, City’s best three players are Lee Holmes, Nicky Law and Lee Martin – all who have an overall ratingof 66. January signings Ryan Bowman and Randell Williams come close to the trio with overalls of 64 and 62 respectively while skipper Jake Taylor has a rating of 64.
Defensive duo Dean Moxey, rated 64, and Dara O’Shea, 5 points behind at 59, have their contrasting levels of experience of playing professional football reflected by the ranking system. Academy graduate Archie Collins is probably in need of an upgrade for FIFA’s next edition as the midfielder only has an overall grading of 56.
Delving into the players’ individual stats, it becomes clear that EA see winger Randell Williams as City’s fastest player, with a pace stat of 81, followed closely by Jonathan Forte with 80.
Exeter’s strongest player on the game is Ryan Bowman, whose physical rating of 80. Sharp shooter Lee Martin has the best shooting stat on 63. Goalkeeper Christy Pym has an overall rating of 64, making him one of the highest ranked shot-stoppers in League Two. Christy’s best individual stat is his reflexes, which EA have ranked at 67.
Obviously, these ratings are just the thoughts of a few scouts at EA and are not a true reflection of all the player’s abilities, but this won’t stop some of the City players trying to prove their (unfair) rankings wrong.
