đźš™ Travel Guide: Crewe Alexandra (Saturday, February 23)

Details ahead of the trip to Cheshire.

22 February 2019

Exeter City return to action on the road when they travel to take on Crewe Alexandra in Sky Bet League Two.

An important game for the Grecians, who will be looking to take all three points to continue their push towards the top of Sky Bet League Two, here's the travel details to consider before making the journey.

STADIUM: THE ALEXANDRA STADIUM (CW2 6EB)

Also commonly known as Gresty Road, Crewe’s stadium has a capacity of 10,153 and has been the home of Crewe Alexandra since the early 20th century. Over the last 10 years, Crewe Alexandra's Gresty Road home has undergone some drastic and changes. To comply with the Taylor report of 1990, the stadium became all-seater prior to the start of the 1999/2000 season. The Grecians’ last visit to Crewe saw them take all three points in dramatic style with two late goals.

GRECIAN TRAVEL

The supporters’ coach departs Unit 1 nightclub at 8.15am on the morning of the game for a fee of £30. Pick up points include: Unit 1 nightclub (Summerland Street), Honiton Road Park & Ride (by Miller and Carter steakhouse), Cullompton Services (junction 28), Tiverton (junction 27), Taunton (junction 25), any other pick-ups en-route by prior arrangement.

The easiest way to buy is online, or on your mobile using the club's ticketing system. For more information or to book please contact Chris Woolcott on 01392 250250 or John Bishop on 07904036334 or by email at: john.bishop760@btinternet.com (after 6pm). Alternatively, drop into reception at St James Park to book.

ROAD

From Exeter take the M5 north all the way up to the M6. You can reach the football club from two different junctions, but Crewe advise that you take junction 16 for the more direct route.

Exit the M6 and follow signs for Crewe on the A500 and then the A5020. At the roundabout take the third exit and continue to the next roundabout, take the first exit continuing to follow signs for Crewe town centre and Crewe railway station.

Pass Crewe Hall on your right, and at the next roundabout continue forward down Weston Road. Away supporters parking can be found on the industrial estate on Weston Road, this is approximately a 10-minute walk to the ground. If you continue down to the roundabout this will take you towards the ground, take the first left at the roundabout and continue past the train station. Take the second left down Gresty Road and continue down to the junction and the ground is on your left. If you require the postcode for Sat Nav it is CW2 6EB.

BY RAIL

Crewe Alexandra is just a five-minute walk from Crewe train station. Once you arrive at the station, you can see the ground, turn left out of the main entrance and walk down to the second left, marked with the road sign Gresty Road. On the day of the game you can leave Exeter St Davids at 8.30am, and with two changes first at Taunton and then Birmingham New Street, you will arrive in Crewe for 1:08pm. Otherwise there is a later train which leaves at 9.40am and, with the same changes, you will arrive for 2.08pm. There are a few trains which will get you back to Exeter on the day, such as the 5.49pm train which will again require you to change at Birmingham New Street and Taunton, which should get you back for 10.35pm. There are also trains at 6.01pm and 6.49pm.
