Ahead of the visit of Southend this Saturday, City boss Matt Taylor has stressed the importance of the first goal as the Grecians look to put themselves in a favourable position in the closing weeks of the season.
Speaking ahead of the clash with the relegation strugglers, Taylor says so often this season that across the league, the first goal has decided the result.
"Our focus will be on how we start the game, we want to get on top," Taylor said.
"So often the first goal is pivotal. On Tuesday night it caused us to change the context of what we do at half time and it caused us to chase the game.
"If we do go behind in any of the final six games, we need a clear plan and I am going to give the players as clear instructions as possible."
