🏆 One of Our Own Cup | The Results

24 May 2021

Thanks to the generosity and support of the event sponsors and all those who bought tickets, we are delighted to announce that the One of Our Own virtual match fundraiser raised a total of £2,148 for local good causes.

The match saw a team of our superb academy graduates take on the might of the Junior Grecians, and in a thrilling encounter played out on Twitter, it was the JG's who picked up the trophy thanks to an impressive comeback on the day.

Ahead of the game, it was stipulated that a draw would see our young supporters lift the cup, and so it played out as a last-minute penalty from Isla Norman helped Scott Walker's JG's to a 5-5 draw and the honour of being the firstwinners of the One of Our Own Cup.

Plans will be put in place for the JG's to display their trophy at the Park next season, whilst all funds raised by this initiative will be shared equally by Exeter City Community Trust and Exeter Community Initiatives.

Speaking after the virtual match, the chairman of the Exeter City Supporters' Trust, Nick Hawker, said: "As ever, we are hugely grateful to all those who helped to support this event, not least those who sponsored various aspect of the match or bought virtual tickets to raise money for two charities that do such incredible work within our community.

"This past year has been challenging for the club and the community, and so to see various aspects of the ECFC family coming together to organise and support this event has provided the club and Trust with a real boost as we work towards welcoming supporters back to the Park for real next season"
