📝 Club saddened to hear of passing of Pete Edwards

11 October 2021

Everyone across the Exeter City family is saddened to hear of the death of Pete Edwards, former leader of Exeter City Council.

A regular at St James Park and an advocate for our football club, Pete will be sadly missed.

Julian Tagg, president and director of external affairs and football at Exeter City FC, said: “We are all deeply saddened to hear this news. Pete supported all things Exeter and was a fantastic advocate for our club. He was always supportive, and he was absolutely instrumental and vocal in facilitating the collaboration between the city council, the football club and the developers which enabled us to construct the new Stagecoach Adam Stansfield stand.

“The stand, which bears a plaque that truly acknowledges Pete’s role in its construction, is a real legacy of his work and his love for the football club. We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Pete’s friends and family.”
