📝 Match Preview: Bath City (A)

All you need to know as pre-season continues!

15 July 2023

Exeter City's pre-season campaign continues on Saturday with a trip to Twerton Park to face Bath City in a 3pm kick-off.

City will be looking to continue their positive preparations for the upcoming Sky Bet League One season after beating Tiverton Town 1-0 and Mousehole AFC 8-0 over the last week.

The trip to Twerton Park will be City's first since a crazy 4-3 win back in July 2021.

Bath City finished 11th in the National League South last season and provided a stepping stone for Sonny Cox's break into the City first team, with the young striker scoring five times in 19 matches for the Romans during a loan spell.

City could come up against former Grecians Jordan Dyer and Elliott Frear on Saturday!

Gary Caldwell's thoughts

After two matches of two separate XIs in each half, Caldwell will give some of his players more match minutes against the Romans as the first match of the season edges closer.

"We'll probably go around 60-30 and assess it, then flip it for the next match. Everyone has played two lots of 45 so far. We have to play the players to the intensity that will get them ready.

"It's important we continue to play these local teams because it helps us to develop connections. So far we've had two brilliant games."
