📝 Women's Match Preview: Cheltenham Town (H)

Exeter City Women will continue their pre-season preparations this Sunday as they return to the Exwick Sports Hub to face third tier Cheltenham Town Ladies.

The Robinesses well go into the 2023/24 season looking to build upon a record-breaking 8th place finish in the Southern Premier Division last campaign – their best ever finish in the women’s football pyramid.

It’s been a quiet transfer window so far for Tom Davies’ side, who are yet to bring in any new additions to the squad. However, they have retained key players such as Courtney Jones and captain Emily Owen. Cheltenham fans will be hoping that their team’s solid foundation will bring another successful season as they return to Cheltenham to play home games at their new home – Kayte Lane.

Likewise, Exeter are looking to build upon a very successful 2022/23 season in which they narrowly missed out on promotion. Following last Sunday’s defeat to Oxford, they will once again look to test themselves against third tier opposition.

Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakely will hope to see their new signings, Beth Ireland, Amber Pollock, Tash Knapman and Zoe Cunningham continue to gel into the side – Cunningham is set to make her debut on Sunday after serving her one match suspension. Additionally, Sunday’s game will be a chance for fans to see the new arrivals in action, with Exwick Sports Hub being open for spectators.
