📝 Women's Match Preview: Larkhall Athletic (A)

2 March 2023

Exeter City Women complete a grueling spell of five successive away fixtures with a visit to Larkhall Athletic on Sunday afternoon.

The Grecians are hoping to keep their 2023 momentum going with a seventh win in eight.

Larkhall go in to the game after a difficult week. The jubilation of an important three points against Swindon Town was soon calmed with the immediate resignation of Manager James Goddard-Wellon. The Larks have had a tough season, finding wins hard to achieve despite rarely being beaten by a large margin.

After seven successive defeats, Chloe Snook’s winning goal last weekend will have come as a great relief and, despite the departure of Goddard-Wellon, will give the team hope of steering clear of relegation.

Snook has offered the main goal threat for the Somerset side this season, her five goals supported by Hannah Price with three. The two teams met before the Christmas break with goals from Chloe Gilroy and Jenna Markham sealing the three points after a goalless first half. City can expect another close and demanding fixture on Sunday.

The Grecians will be optimistic of claiming three points in Somerset to maintain their lead at the top of the division, with Cardiff City’s chase heating up this week with two games in four days.

City will hope to travel back from Devon with the three points, with all eyes then turning to the fixture against Portishead Town at St James Park next weekend.

With four of the final five games to play in Devon, Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakley’s team will be confident of a strong run in, but first the threat posed by Larkhall Athletic on Sunday.
