Welsh Winger Joins The Grecians

Say hello to Arron Davies

Exeter City this morning secured the signature of 28-year-old Welsh international Arron Davies on a two year deal.

The former Yeovil, Nottingham Forest and Brighton midfielder, who spent last season with Northampton Town and scored four times in 19 appearances, underwent a medical on Tuesday before putting pen to paper.

Davies, whose one Wales cap came in a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago in 2006, has played for his country at all levels and has 14 caps for the Under 21s. He has appeared against the Grecians on one occasion, for Peterborough in their 3-0 win back in 2010/11.

After putting pen to paper on his two year contract the Welshman told the Official Website how he can’t wait to get started after suffering a forgettable few months.

“I’m over the moon its all sorted and now I’m chomping at the bit to start training on Monday,” he told us.

“I didn’t kick a ball in the second half of last season after the change of manager which was frustrating, and as a footballer I’m hungry and my desire is to play football.

“I’ve kept myself fit and now I’m just buzzing to get on the pitch and play some football. Its about enjoying my football and my main goal is to be playing football with a smile on my face – when I do that I’m a good player.”

Grecian fans may not have seen Arron on many occasions but the ex-Southampton trainee, who told us former City keeper Paul Jones spoke very highly of the club, told us what they can expect come August.

"I can play anywhere across the midfield, I’m a fairly versatile player,” he said. “I’ve played everywhere really, I’m a jack of all trades, but I like to get forward, get in the box, join up play, get shots off and score goals.”

Keep visiting the Official Website for more from our interview with Arron plus a video on Grecian Player.
