Here is a selection of images from Friday’s press conference, when it was announced that Exeter City would be travelling to Rio de Janeiro to face Fluminense in 2014.
Local and national press convened in the Board Room at St James Park to hear the breaking news that the Grecians would be commemorating the first ever fixture for the Brazilian national team – which took place against the touring Exeter City side in 1914.
Exeter City will be taking on ‘Flu’ in the Estádio das Laranjeiras, the scene of the original Brazil v Exeter fixture, and the game will kick off with the original ball.
And with Brazil having won the original fixture 2-0 in 1914, there’s an opportunity for the Grecians to exact revenge a century later…!
