Supporters Direct extend partnership

Partnership between Supporters Direct and Exeter City extended for coming campaign

We’re pleased to announce that Supporters Direct has extended its partnership deal with Exeter City FC for the 2013/14 season.

The organisation, which was a major contributor to the successful supporter ownership takeover in 2003, has over ten years of experience working with supporters’ trusts, clubs and authorities to improve governance and encourage greater engagement between clubs and their communities.

Julian Tagg, Chief Executive at Exeter City said: “We are delighted that we continue to have the backing of ‘Supporters Direct’, which we see as an endorsement of our club ethos and structure.

“We continue to compete on mostly uneven terms with clubs backed by wealthy owners and high levels of debt, so such support is important to us in our fight to be a socially responsible and financially viable, community owned club.”

The extended deal will see Supporters Direct renewing its pitch-side advertising whilst proving extended support to the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust and its development.

Mark Bullock, Commercial Manager at Supporters Direct, said: “The fans at Exeter have been at the heart of delivering a stable club for the City and without the involvement of the community, the club simply wouldn’t exist.  It is a shining example of the extraordinary things that can happen when communities come together in football.

“This is a great continuation of a strong partnership between Exeter City and Supporters Direct and we wish them all the best for the forthcoming season.”

The Exeter City Supporters’ Trust has contributed in excess of £1,200,000 to Exeter City FC since the Trust took over ownership of the club in 2003.  At present, the Trust contributes on average £110,000 a year to the football club.

Trust membership also gives fans priority access for matchday tickets and provides discounts on merchandise and away travel.
