Rushton keeping order at Kingsmeadow

Staffordshire-based referee Steven Rushton will be the man in the middle for City’s trip to Kingsmeadow to face AFC Wimbledon this weekend.

Rushton began officiating in the Football League in the 2009/10 season and his refereeing debut at SJP was City’s 1-1 draw with Wycombe in October of that season.

Since then Rushton has taken charge of four Grecians games, of which City have only won one – a 2-1 victory over Carlisle in 2010.  The other three have all been defeats, away to Brighton and Tranmere and a home reverse to MK Dons.

The last time Rushton officiated an AFC Wimbledon fixture was in March last year, as the Wombles ran out 3-2 winners over York.

This weekend will be Rushton’s 14th game this season, and so far he has shown 23 yellow cards and sent three players off, two of which were in the same game as Crawley and Gillingham played out a feisty early season affair in September.
