Match Preview: Sunderland vs Exeter City (Capital One Cup Round 2)

24 August 2015

A look ahead to the League Cup tie at the Stadium of Light

SUNDERLAND vs EXETER CITY
CAPITAL ONE CUP ROUND 2
STADIUM OF LIGHT
TUESDAY 25TH AUGUST 2015
KICK-OFF: 7:45PM

AFTER DISPATCHING League 1 Swindon Town at the County Ground in Round 1, Exeter City will head to Premier League Sunderland for the next step in their Capital One Cup adventure.

The Mackems got their first point of the campaign this weekend as Jermain Defoe's goal cancelled out Swansea City's Bafetimbi Gomis's opener, but they have suffered defeats at the hand of Leicester City and Norwich City in their other early fixtures.

City striker Tom Nichols will fulfil an ambition when he lines up against his boyhood heroes on Tuesday night, but the Grecians are expected to make changes after what was a bruising encounter with York City at the weekend.

Exeter City fans can pay on the gate at the Stadium of Light.

Full ticket details for Grecians supporters can be found here.

"I don't really know if I'll get stick from my family. A few of them have said that they don't know who they are going to support, but they are all going to be there. To see a family member play at the Stadium of Light - I think they'll be proud of that." - Tom Nichols, speaking to the Express & Echo
