A look at how Grecians are getting on away from St James Park

CITY FAN Exiled Grecian delivers an update on the Grecians on loan away from St James Park.

Connor Riley-Lowe

Following two postponements last week, against Bath on Tuesday and Dartford on Saturday, Connor missed his first game in four months due to injury last night.

FA Cup: 3 starts, 252 minutes.

Last game
6th February: Wealdstone 4-4 Truro, played 90 mins.

Matt Jay
Truro City, National League South (Joined in January, one-month loan)

It was back to winning ways for Truro last night, as they saw off Hemel Hempstead on a chilly night in Cornwall. And sixteen minutes in it was the lively Matt Jay who won the ball in his own half before setting up Isaac Vassell with a long ball forward. Jamie Slabber then equalised for the visitors on twenty-five minutes, but just three minutes later Ryan Brett converted from the spot after Vassell was brought down to restore Truro's lead. Steve Tully's men doubled their advantage five minutes before the interval, when Dan Green made the most of a mistake by the visitors' eccentric goalkeeper.

The hosts then sat back and invited pressure on themselves, with Martin Rice making a few good save, but sealed the points fifteen minutes from time on the counter attack. Hemel Hempstead did manage to get a late consolation goal, but Truro now sit in the play offs for the first time this season.

Alex Byrne
Weston-super-Mare, National League South (Joined in July, six-month loan extended until the end of the season)

Weston's game against Oxford City went ahead after a pitch inspection last week. With Alex Byrne starting, the Somerset outfit put in an excellent performance and beat the play off hopefuls 5-2. The hosts were helped by David King's red card.

The Seagulls were away at Eastbourne Borough on Saturday and twice came from behind to secure a 3-3 draw. Byrne made his appearance off the bench, but it was fellow substitute Ioannis Varouxakis who proved to be the hero, equalising in stoppage-time on his debut.

And Weston's third game in seven days saw them finally lose at home to Hayes & Yeading United, bringing a nine-game unbeaten run to an end. Alex was again involved from the start in a game which saw the hosts reduced to ten men and also lose star midfielder Dayle Grubb to injury. Weston now sit two points clear of the drop zone.
