City boss looks ahead to visit of the Exiles

EXETER CITY boss Paul Tisdale said the Grecians must raise their performance level ahead of Newport County AFC’s visit to St James Park.

City return to home action for the first time this month and are looking for a positive result to stem the flow of the disappointments of the two away trips in the past week.

“You just have to look at the last result, losing against York – that tells you that anything can happen in this league,” Paul said. “Unless you are absolutely 100% on your game, you run the risk of losing to anybody.

“If you look at the previous forms of all the teams in the league, Newport have been pretty good. They certainly have been at a level above their position in the league, with the way their form has gone over the last ten games.

“We have to be confident but also respectful and focused on doing our job. In League 2 football every team has something to play for - that’s the beauty of play-offs and relegation, so we’ve got to be on our game.”

The Grecians boss has also revealed that Christian Ribeiro will miss out on the match, which kicks off at 1:00pm on Saturday, due to the minor concussion he suffered in midweek.

“He won’t be out too long. It’s a minor concussion, and you have a mandatory period of five or six days. He seems fine and healthy, but it’s a precautionary thing we have to do.”
