Bruce Henderson raises over £1k for charity
BRUCE HENDERSON was found guilty of impersonating a Business Development Manager today at a specially convened court at Exeter Castle, but was released on bail after a great many Exeter City Football Club fans, business partners and sponsors contributed to raise his bail, which was set at £999.The sum raised was in fact in excess of this amount and the court decided that as Henderson was unfit to plead because he works for a football club, he should be released with a severe warning and all bail raised to go immediately to the Children’s Hospice South West.
Henderson, who earlier in the day had been arrested at Heavitree Police Station and was later led off wearing a striped suit into a waiting police van and then on to the cells at Exeter Castle, said: "I am guilty as charged but hope the bail raised will help the court to show mercy." Henderson had earlier turned down a plea bargain wherein he could have walked free if he attended a Plymouth Argyle home match, but elected instead to try to raise the bail and throw himself on the mercy of the court.
As he walked out of the cells, Henderson had this message for the public. "I would like to thank each and every person and company who donated to Children’s Hospice South West to get me out of the cells," Bruce said. "I am touched and humbled by such kindness and generosity of spirit. We have wonderful fans and business partners and I am so sincerely and intensely proud of them."
