Football in the Community traineeship programme for 16-18 year olds

28 November 2016

Aged 16-18 and unsure what to do next?

Not sure which course to take at college or if further education is for you? Do you want to go into employment but don’t know what you want to do? Maybe you are struggling to get on the first rung of the employment ladder?

With the right help and support and with the motivation to do something everything is possible. Our 12 week programme will help you find out more about the world of work and help you to take the next steps that are right for you.

What’s involved?

For 12 weeks you’ll be a trainee at Exeter City Football In The Community. You’ll spend four days per week on work placement doing a variety of roles within the club, which might include coaching, administration, match day duties or being a shop assistant.

You’ll spend time developing employability skills such a CV writing, interview techniques, money skills or problem solving. One day a week will also be spent developing your functional skills (for example if you don’t have English and maths to GCSE grade C).

As a trainee you will also have the opportunity to take a basic coaching qualification.
By the end of the programme you’ll be in a much better position to choose your next step: into work with training, an apprenticeship, or into full-time education.
