📝 Big Match Preview: City vs Stevenage

All you need to know ahead of Tuesday night's match

2 October 2018

Third take on fourth at St James Park on Tuesday night as the Grecians welcome Stevenage to St James Park for a 7:45pm kick-off.

City will be looking to continue their good form, which sees them unbeaten in five in all competitions, with four wins and one draw, against a Stevenage side that are also in form having picked up 10 points from their last four matches.

City suffered heartbreak in the seventh minute of injury time on Saturday as Port Vale headed home from a corner to secure a 1-1 draw. Speaking after the match, City-manager Matt Taylor was keen to take the positives from the performance at Vale Park ahead of Tuesday night.

"My job is very much to pick them up and go again ahead of Tuesday," he said. "We always learn from our mistakes. We are still a young team and they will learn how to manage the game a bit better than that in the future.

"We will be better for it and that is not a bad complaint."

WHEN WE LAST MET

The sides last met in April this year as City fell to a 3-1 defeat away from home against Stevenage in Sky Bet League Two.

In a match where the Grecians created a host of chances, it was the hosts who were the more clinical as Alex Revell claimed a hat-trick at the Lamex Stadium.

Pierce Sweeney did pull one back for City from the penalty spot but it wasn't to be as City will now have to settle for a play-off spot as they continued to search for promotion which would ultimately end in the play-offs.
