Winger Joel Randall said it was important for Exeter City's under-23 side to get off to winning start in Group D of the Premier League cup having narrowly missed out on qualifying for the knockout stages last season.
The Grecians beat Aston Villa 3-0 at St James Park on Thursday night with goals from Ben Seymour, Matt Jay and Jordan Dyer and, having lost their opening group game last season, Joel admitted after the game it was nice to get off to a winning start this time around.
