Exeter City can confirm that goalkeeping coach Steve Hale has left the club.

Steve joined Exeter City last summer as part of the first team coaching staff. Manager Matt Taylor said they were grateful to him for his contribution to the team in that time.

He added: “As with many other clubs across the leagues, we have had to make some tough decisions due to the effects of the pandemic on football. ”

The decision is one of a number of cost-saving measures the club has taken to mitigate against the loss of income caused by the Covid-19 crisis.

Steve said: “I’m gutted to be leaving Exeter. Although I’ve only been part of the club for a year, it’s been a really enjoyable one.

“It’s a great club, in a great area and although it was a disappointing end to a strong season, I’ve loved working with the manager and staff who have made me feel welcome from day one. I’ve enjoyed working with the goalkeepers and the whole squad on a daily basis.

“I wish Exeter all the best for next season and hopefully they can get the promotion they deserve. I will be keeping an eye out for their results.”
