Exeter City will not travel to Oldham Athletic until they know the outcome of a Friday morning pitch inspection, says manager Matt Taylor.

After arriving at Barrow on Tuesday night to see the match called off an hour before kick off, City are taking no chances and will wait until after the morning pitch inspection at Boundary Park on Friday before setting off.

"There will be a pitch inspection tomorrow, so we will delay our departure around that," he said.

"They've called it early so they must be worried about it, rather than waiting until midday."

On the game itself, Taylor expects a different kind of game to the one at SJP, which the Latics ran out as 2-1 winners.

"They like to play football and Harry Kewell is a manager who gets them playing the right way.

"They're quite strong defensively as well. It's a game with two sides with good attacking intent and we have to hope there is a surface that allows both sides to do that. It'll be down to who takes their chances."
