16 August 2022

Exeter City have the opportunity to return to winning ways on Tuesday evening when they face Wycombe Wanderers at St James Park.

The Grecians were beaten 2-1 at Cambridge United on Saturday is the soaring heat, but with temperatures dropping and much needed rain set to fall before kick off in midweek, conditions shouldn't be an issue this time round for Matt Taylor's men.

The Chairboys, who were defeated by Sunderland in last season's play-off final under the guidance of long serving loyal manager Gareth Ainsworth were also beaten by the same scoreline at the weekend, losing at home to Shrewsbury Town.

Alex Hartridge's Thoughts

Alex Hartridge has given his thoughts as City prepare to face Wycombe Wanderers at St James Park on Tuesday, keen to put Saturday's defeat at Cambridge behind them.

"We are looking forward to reacting to Saturday," he said after that late defeat at the Abbey Stadium.

"It's a new opposition and a new challenge for us, and it's good it's only three days after the last game.

"You always think of a Wycombe team as direct and good on set pieces and they are still a threat from them, but we have to be ready to them bringing something different tomorrow night."
