Matt Taylor has hailed his side following their goalless draw at Port Vale on Tuesday night.
The makeshift Grecians side, depleted by injuries and illness, battled to a hard fought point against a Vale side closing in on the play off places.
"I'm proud of the performance and the effort. There were players running on empty tonight," Matt said.
"The group approached the game in the right way. We never make excuses but we've got to be honest about where we are.
"But I don't think that affected the way we play and ww got stronger as the game went on. Cam hasn't been worked too hard tonight."
