📝 Match Preview: Oldham Athletic (A)

All you need to know as City hit the road

18 March 2022

After seven points from three home matches in the last week, the Grecians are back on the road this weekend as we travel to Boundary Park to take on Oldham Athletic.

There was plenty to digest from City's 2-1 win over Crawley Town, where Tim Dieng grabbed both goals - albeit one in controversial fashion - but attentions now turn to the Latics, who are deep within the relegation battle at the bottom end of the Sky Bet League Two table.

John Sheridan has been brought back for his sixth spell in charge of the Greater Manchester side, and despite three consecutive defeats, he has pulled the side back within three points of safety after a resurgence in February which saw them pick up three wins from five undefeated matches.

Matt Taylor's Thoughts

Following the appointment of John Sheridan earlier this year, the Latics have brought themselves back into the mix in the fight for safety after a superb February, despite three losses on the bounce in Sky Bet League Two.

"They've put themselves in a really good position with the teams arounds them," he said.

"I watched them against Carlisle a few weeks ago. They're a really competitive team and he [John] has got them organised and given them a bit of structure.

They've got a bit of consistency are are really strong at the top end of the pitch. We know who they want to get on the ball and who is going to hurt us, but as always, we have to implement our style of play on Saturday."
