👏 The team behind match days

Our team of the Year

11 May 2022

The people behind your match day experience are there helping make St James Park that special place where that win against Harrogate or MJ’s winner versus Barrow, you can enjoy the match in the best way ECFC can.

To that end, while the players on the pitch have been making their mark, Chief Operations Officer Justin Quick has put together the Team of the Year for those off it.

The team of the year is as follows:

Bars

Lead by Luke and including seven bars, St James Park has everything from the FECRACE Real Ale bar ran by volunteers, through to the Heritage Lounge. Staff and volunteers across the bars have poured over 50,000 pints this season!

Kiosks

Dawn and the staff within the kiosks work tirelessly to deliver the food and drink to help you through 90 minutes! The addition of Chunk of Devon Pies and pasties has been well received with over 20,000 of their products consumed by Grecians throughout the season.

Pitches

Of course there is the YouTube phenomenon, and now Programme cover model, that is Charlie, however the work of Pat and Mark make our pitches at the stadium the best they can be with huge efforts and rightly acknowledged by the EFL this season!

The match day volunteers that assist the team, allow them to continue to make improvements. They care for the million blades of grass so much they probably have a name for each of them!

Hospitality

The commercial team and Complete Events have delivered thousands of meals to supporters in hospitality suites throughout St James Park, thank you to all the staff involved in providing customers with lasting memories.

Media Team

OK so they probably are known to most supporters through the fantastic work they do, however the 8,000 plus miles that have been clocked up on away games and the coverage via so many channels makes them the best in our opinion.

From SJP 360s to Park Life, Life’s a pitch or post match interviews, the footage you see takes many times more to film, edit and publish. Who knows how many tweets this season?

Junior Grecians

The JG Zone is a part of match day that makes match days special for young supporters. The committee lead by Scott make it a great experience and lead on so many initiatives to help make us a welcoming club to new supporters.

Ticketing and Gate staff

With over 100,000 tickets sold Dave supported by Mike, Denis and the other Dave have helped get both home and away tickets to you. On match days the gatemen have been able to scan each and every one of those tickets to help you get in to the stadium for kick off, thanks to all of them who form an important part of our team.

Retail

Nick has had to come in to a retail space that has been void of supporters for a long time, he is building better stock all the time and has a match day team around him that helped us make match day sales better than any day on record.

Ambassadors & Tour Guides

Lead by Richard, the team of Ambassadors help answer so many questions on match days, guiding people in to SJP whether seasoned supporters or first time visitors. The tour guides get to work first on match days showing people around our home and bringing new historical facts to each and every tour!

Stewards and Safety Team

With a loyal band of Stewards lead by Kevin, we are very grateful to those people who stand out in wind, rain and sun to make sure our match days are safe for all.

The support of Exeter Medical Services and a number of Security agencies enable us to deal with issues swiftly and ensure and injuries get the best care that a Grecian could wish for. Co-ordinated by Kay, we thank her and each and every steward for their loyalty and hard work.

Volunteer Clean Up Team

They have to be last don’t they, when most of us are enjoying that first pint or discussing the game on the way home, the many volunteers that sweep our stands keep SJP looking good. Whether it is Andy, Phil or Mike, Big Col, or any other member of the loyal crew, we thank you, you remind us of what our club is and why we are special!
