📝 Match Preview: Torquay United (A)

21 July 2023

Torquay United are City's next pre-season opponents as we head to Plainmoor on Saturday.

The Grecians' preparation for August 5 continued on Tuesday with a 3-0 win at Taunton Town, so far making it for 12 scored and none conceded over four pre-season matches and we will hope to continue the good form on the English Riviera.

Torquay United are gearing up for their National League South season, having suffered relegation to the sixth tier on the final day of last season.

Gary Caldwell's Preview

"The competitiveness of the games are starting increase the closer we get to the season." - Gary expects to give some players a full 90 minutes at Plainmoor on Saturday, with that big kick off at Wycombe on August 5 just two weeks away.

The Stadium

Plainmoor has a capacity of 6,500 and has been the Gulls' home since 1921 and saw renevation in 2011, when a brand new main stand was erected. 'Bristows Bench' as it is known, was named in honour of former director Paul Bristow, who financially backed the club thanks to a lottery win. Away fans will be accomodated in one block of that stand, was well as a one full terrace behind the goal.
