A squad update from Exeter City Women.
Abbie Britton’s squad has seen several departures in recent weeks, with long serving defender Mollie Taylor now joined by Beth Everson at Torquay United. Georgina Presswell has gone back to Dubai, with Sky MacDonald-Brown returning from her loan agreement with Marine Academy Plymouth and departing the Grecians for a new opportunity.
Lily Dowling and Jasmine Reid continue their loan agreement with Marine Academy Plymouth, the Ivybridge based side enjoying a positive first campaign in the FAWNL and both players playing regular football.
Matilda Franchi has been ever present with Torquay United during her loan spell at Plainmoor, including playing against city in the recent FA Cup First Round tie.
City Manager Britton was keen to reflect on the departures. “We are always sad to see players depart but must acknowledge that playing regular football is a significant part of any players development. At tier three the expectations are considerable and the impact that has on players having to balance life, work and football can be challenging. Our players are people that we care about and we will always want what is best for them.”
“Our squad is now a small one, we have already seen that with injuries and suspensions it will be tough to compete, but notoriously this squad has always dug deep, we thrive on the underdog mentality and will always fight to keep being successful.”
