The winner of the Foundation’s monthly prize of £1,000 for August is Gillian Stevens.
Gillian is pictured receiving her cheque from City Social Media and Media Manager, Scott Palfrey, before the new season’s opening home league game with Accrington Stanley. She is going to use the money to pay for an important eye operation.
Gillian first started supporting City at the age of 12 when she would go to games with her dad, and was a regular until she got married in 1959 and raised her four children. When the youngest, Paul, was old enough in 1976, she started going again and has been a loyal supporter ever since. She remembers her favourite game as being the 4-0 FA Cup replay win over Newcastle United at the park, when she even managed to drag her late husband Gerald along, he was not really a football fan. Gillian’s favourite current players are Jack Bycroft and Charlie Cummins, but she still has a soft spot for the departed Ilmari Niskanen.
