Remembering Graham Weeks

All at Exeter City were saddened to hear of the passing of former Grecian Graham Weeks at the age of 68.

Graham played for Exeter City between 1976 and 1978, making 60 appearances and scoring once and was a member of the Exeter City team that won promotion in 1976/77.

Signing for City as an apprentice after leaving school in 1974, Graham became a full time professional in March 1976. He was just nineteen years old when Exeter City won promotion in 1977. Graham made his debut at Colchester United on September 4, 1976 and made 37 starts that season - together with three appearances off the bench, contributing one goal against Rochdale.

In his second season as a Grecian, he only made a dozen starts and would leave for AFC Bournemouth where he played a handful of games. Graham then switched to the Western League initially with Bideford, he then enjoyed considerable success in the strong Exmouth Town side of the early 1980s where he would win two Western League titles and reach the semi-finals of the FA Vase in 1985 before managing the team in the 90s.

Sadly, Graham sustained a knee injury whilst playing cricket effectively ended his football career and, remaining in the Exeter area, he later worked as a technician for BT.

Our thoughts are with Grahams family and friends at this deeply sad time. Once a Grecian, always a Grecian.
