After opening their League Cup campaign with a 3-0 win away at Portishead Town, City Women return to Coach Road to host Southampton PGA this Sunday in the competition.
This season’s competition has a fresh format, with the Women’s National League introducing a group stage to launch the tournament. City find themselves in Group B alongside Portishead, Abingdon United, and Southampton PGA - the Saints’ Professional Game Academy side, mirroring the under-21 opposition City Men face in the Vertu Motors Trophy.
With qualification places at stake and only goal difference separating the two sides so far, victory could prove decisive in the battle to progress to the Cup knockout rounds.
The Standings
City and Southampton both won their opening fixtures in this season's competition, as the Grecians dispatched Portishead Town 3-0 thanks to goals from Sarah Stacey, Ellie Sara and Sophie Gillies. Meanwhile, the Saints travelled to Abingdon United, winning 2-0 with Sofia Dix-Trujillo and England U17 international Natasha Udebhulu on the scoresheet.
