Live in the Exeter area and wondering what to do with your Christmas tree once the festivities are over? Well, we have a way for you to turn a simple collection into something that makes a real difference.
By choosing the Exeter City Community Trust's Charity Christmas Tree Collection, you can save yourself a trip to the tip while helping to support people in Exeter who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The official charity partner of the club is running the collection campaign to help raise vital funds for their Supported Housing programme, which helps some of the most vulnerable people in our city find stability, support and a positive path forward.
As a community focused charity, ECCT work hard to make a difference in our community all year round, with the Supported Housing service providing support to people who really need it, helping them find stability and a path forward in life.
The programme, which began in 2021, provides a holistic service that goes far beyond providing a roof overhead by offering not only safe accommodation, but also guidance, skills and encouragement, helping people to rediscover confidence, independence, and hope for the future.
Residents come from many walks of life: veterans adjusting to civilian life, care leavers, single parents, people fleeing domestic violence, those in financial crisis, and individuals living with mental health challenges.
This year's Charity Christmas Tree Collection is a simple way for you to donate your natural Christmas tree after the holidays. By taking part, you’re helping to support the Supported Housing Scheme, which aims to end homelessness for those who are struggling. It’s a small way to make a big difference.
Jamie Vittles, chief executive of Exeter City Community Trust, said: “Your support really matters. Every donation helps provide essential services for vulnerable people in our city. When you donate your tree, you’re not just getting rid of it simply and efficiently; you’re helping to create a safer, more stable community for everyone.”
The collection takes place on January 5, 6 and 7, 2026 in the EX1, EX2, EX3 and EX4 postcodes. To book your collection in advance, for only £10 per tree, please visit www.abler.io/shop/exetercct/specialevents.
