Women's Match Preview: Lewes (A)

Lewes A prev

The Grecians will return to The Dripping Pan on Sunday to face Lewes in a replay, three week after the original game was abandoned following Bow Jackson's injury.

Abbie Britton's side come into the game off the back of Devon Derby defeat as goals from Phoebe Hampson and Tianna Teiser were enough to secure all three points at Home Park. With the Grecians currently amidst a period of mid-season injury woes, reinforcements have come with the arrival of Ellie Sargent from Gwalia United. In the original meeting between the two sides on the South Coast back at the start of the month, Amber Pollock's opener was cancelled out before the referee abandoned the game with Bow Jackson down injured. City will look for a more straightforward game of football second time around.

The Rooks, pioneers of equal pay in football, play out of The Dripping Pan stadium in Lewes and has been the home of the club since its foundation in 1885. Lewes currently sit in sixth place in the WNL Southern Premier and just the two points ahead of the Grecians, turning Sunday's game into a proper mid-table clash. In terms of dangerous players, the Sussex team currently have three players all tied on five goals so far this season; Olivia Carpenter, Leah Lane, and Rebekah Trewitt.
