Women's Match Preview: Oxford United (H)

Oxford w preview

After a three months wait, football finally returns to The County Ground on Sunday 1 March when Oxford United Women make the journey South-West to face Exeter City.

A week on from the Grecian's defeat to Lewes at The Dripping Pan, a game that already had a lot of attention before a ball had even been kicked due to the previous abandonment in early February, Exeter City will look for a return to winning ways against Oxford United. Abbie Britton's side continues to battle an ever-growing injury list with the likes of Bow Jackson, Georgia Vaccaro, Maddie Durrant, new-signing Ellie Sargent and many more all sidelined after blows in previous games.

Sunday's opponents Oxford United make the trip to TQ12 having lost only one game in their last six and sitting in fifth place on 26 points. The two sides met back in September as Nicole Barrett's second half strike was enough to secure all three points in the Grecian's visit to Oxfordshire.

While Sophie Gillies continues to lead the charge in the race for the FA WNL Southern Premier golden boot with 19 strikes so far this season, City will need to look our for the Yellows' top goalscorer Emma Grace Thompson having netted 17 times in the league.

The Grecians will hope for a bustling crowd in the stands at The County Ground in their long awaited return, so be sure to purchase your tickets in advance to save!
