Keith Heaton wins the jackpot
The winner of the bumper roll-over 50/50 Draw against Torquay was Keith Heaton of Exmouth with the ticket numbered 40601.
Exeter City Football Club were buoyed by the news that Mr Heaton decided to donate £350 of his takings to the club’s Academy.
With a bumper gate at St James Park for the Devon Derby, and with a roll-over on offer after the prize-money from the previous fixture against Southend had gone unclaimed, one lucky winner stood the chance of claiming a bumper pot of £1,350.
Former Exeter City captain and Torquay United defender Chris Todd was a guest at the club for Monday evening’s derby, and drew the winning ticket. And upon hearing his number called, Mr Heaton, who has been attending games at the Park for over 50 years and is a member of the Senior Reds, had no hesitation in rounding down his own winnings in order to give something back to the club.
Academy Manager Simon Hayward was also beaming with gratitude for the donation. He said: “It’s a really generous gesture by Mr Heaton and we’re really grateful for the donation. Every penny that gets donated helps us with our work in preparing our youngsters and giving them every chance of making a career out of their talent.”
