Groundsmen already at work to prepare the pitch
Work is already underway to get the St James Park pitch ready for the 2013/14 season.
Head groundsman Clive Pring is being helped by his assistants in the form of Dave Richards, Chaz Woolnough and Joe Southcott, as well as Ken Saunders (the Colonel), as they make the first steps towards preparing the playing surface for the forthcoming campaign. Despite some horrendous weather in Devon during winter and spring, the estates team managed to make the pitch playable for every home fixture, without having to postpone any League 2 games.
The pitch was used by over 300 youngsters on bank holiday Monday who were involved in a futsal tournament for under-9s, under-10s and under-11s, capping 12 days of non-stop football at St James Park. Hundreds of adults and juniors have lived the dream of turning out at Exeter City during the past two weeks.
Now Clive and his crew are ploughing up the turf to get the pitch ready in time for the pre-season fixtures at the Park, which will be announced in due course. Keep checking exetercityfc.co.uk for updates on the state of the pitch and news about forthcoming friendly fixtures.
